About BDavis Designs

Designing is my passion. As a child, art was my world. I would lose myself sketching cartoons, logos, clothes and even still life. This early love affair with colors and patterns inspired me to eventually pursue a career that I truly loved and allowed me to grow. At BDavis Designs, I take pride in every detail, every step of the way. It’s my priority to make sure the client’s creative concepts are managed professionally and with care.

After graduating from the Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago with my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Multimedia and Web Design, I launched BDavis Designs LLC in 2003. I later graduated from DePaul University’s College of Computing and Digital Media with my Master of Science degree in E-Commerce Technology and Project Management.

My career began to flourish as I gained industry knowledge while working for the world’s leading African-American publishing company, Johnson Publishing Company (JPC). At JPC, I started out as a Web Designer and then, as the Senior Digital Designer/Producer, I designed and managed production of various campaigns for their flagship sites: johnsonpublishing.com, ebony.com, jetmag.com, fashionfair.com and ebonyfashionfair.com.

Other projects included designing microsites, banner ads and digital newsletters for Toyota, Gillette, Pantene, Simmons Jewelry, Louisiana Tourism, DeLaSoul, Disney, Nationwide®, State Farm Insurance and more.

After working at JPC, I joined the Web team at Blue Cross Blue Shield and then on to CareerBuilder. At CareerBuilder, I focused on visual design, user testing and prototyping. While there, I received my Nielsen Norman UX training certification. In 2016, I joined Digital Bridge Solutions, a digital e-commerce agency, as Senior Associate – Support Project Manager. While at Digital Bridge Solutions, I managed projects for Eternity Gardens, Radio Flyer, Schuler Shoes, and Love & Promise Jewelers. I also designed for SAP FieldGlass and SaltWorks Gourmet Salts. My current role is a QA Analyst at Eight Bit Studios.

Because designing is my passion, I have expanded my services to include an apparel collection inspired by my recovery from a severely broken leg in February 2018. The creative process allowed me to turn my brokenness into something beautiful by transforming my black and white leg x-ray into a bold, colorful and inspirational graphic. The fun and energetic designs are all based on activities and songs that helped me stay motivated and focused during my healing process. It is my hope that others will find strength and inspiration from the collection as well. (View Merch By BDavis Designs here)

When I’m not designing, I love event planning. My specialty is turning an ordinary event into an extraordinary experience. Because creativity is at my core, I’d like to one day expand my artistic expression into other areas, such as music and culinary arts by learning to play the drums and trying my hand at creating sugar sculptures.

I hope this brief snapshot of my background helps you choose one of the premiere design firms Chicago has to offer.
